Buns by Alice Clayton • FMR REVIEW

BLURB:

Clara Morgan is living the dream, if you can call rebranding hotels that are desperate for a new life and running any kind of marathon a dream. Which she does. But the career she loves and the endurance races that keep her adrenaline pumping have kept her too busy to put down any roots. Growing up in foster care, she’s never been able to establish traditions of her own, which may be why she’s fascinated by the rituals that generations-old family resorts are known for. She’s especially interested in the Bryant Mountain House, and not just for their secret recipe for the yummy, gooey, can’t-get-enough-of Hot Cross Buns….

Archie Bryant, the man with the Buns, is fifth generation and one-day-owner of the charming yet run-down Bryant Mountain House in Bailey Falls, New York. He’s determined to save his family’s legacy from the wrecking ball the old-fashioned way—by gritting his teeth and doing what needs to be done. There’s no way Archie will be influenced by the new hotel branding expert his father brought in to turn one hundred and fifty years of tradition on its head just to attract a faster, younger, slicker crowd. But when some of Clara’s ideas start bringing in new, paying customers, Archie can’t deny that she may have just given him a shot at keeping his resort open.

It’s sticky, it’s messy, it’s sweet, it’s Buns.

Every book in this series is a 5 star read for me. They are all phenomenal in their own ways. The stories are gripping, humorous, sexy, and touching. It's not just two people finding each other for steamy times. There's a story behind each character. What brought them there, made them the way they are, and what it'll take to tear down there walls.
Clara never stays in one place for long. Not only is it part of her job, but it's all she's ever known her entire life. This next job is a large one. It could mean partner for her. So she can't be getting involved with the emotional son of the owner of the hotel she was just hired to help.
Archie is said son. This hotel is his life. Literally. It's his home that he invites strangers into every day. So when this stranger that not only wants to change his hotel walks in and flips his world around, it knocks him off his axis.
Alice Clayton writes these stories that completely captivate me. This was the best weekend for it. It was rainy and dreary. The perfect reading weather for me. I was able to become completely immersed in Bailey Falls and it's charm. I loved seeing past characters from recent stories and getting an update on them. I'll never get enough of this series.

I can't say enough how much I love Alice's work and especially this cute little series!! Bailey Falls, New York is a Mecca for handsomeness and draws in the snarkiest of ladies. The fresh air brings on the best of situations and the craziest of scenarios and made me crave these characters!!

I loved Clara and her head strong way of making everything around her organized and precise. Hotel renovation is her jam and she's confident in her ability to make magic. Enter Archie Bryant... not easy going and the biggest monkey wrench in her plan for smooth sailing. These two are comedy without even trying. They give as good as they take and the entertainment level was through the roof!

I am a huge fan of anything Alice writes and this series is no exception. This book delivered everything that I expected from a standalone wrapped up in the Bailey Falls family of characters. The story was fluid and easy which made me fly through the pages wanting the story to continue on and on. I recommend this book, Alice Clayton in her writing entirely and this whole series!

This book was incredible. I knew that it would be hilarious, as I find most of this author's work to be. But the emotional level of this story blew me away. Clara and Archie are very complex, well developed characters with amazing backstories as well. I loved Clara's take no prisoners attitude. She knows how she wants things and knows how to get everyone to come around to her way of thinking. Archie is stubborn and as set in his ways as they come. The fireworks explode wen these two finally stop fighting their attraction to each other. I loved the inclusion of previous characters, as it set the stage for some very funny get-togethers. Another homerun for this series!
