Daddy duty might be his toughest mission yet...

There are certain words that have always described Cam Brantley: Town bad boy. Soldier. Protector. But never, ever dad. Until he returns home from his latest military tour to discover the girl he had one smoking-hot night with is now mom to the adorable two-year-old Zoey. Who has his eyes.

Plenty of words could describe Emma Walker these days. Mom, dutiful granddaughter, budding designer, the town’s golden child. But when her longtime crush Cam Brantley comes back to town, she knows the perfect word to describe herself: screwed.

Cam and Emma are both shocked to discover he truly wants Zoey in his life. But Cam’s not sure he’s ready to be a dad, and Emma can’t gamble her daughter on maybes. As the long-simmering heat between Cam and Emma reaches a boiling point, he’ll have to work past his demons in order to be the man both girls need.

This story was everything I was hoping it would be. I love stories about second chances and especially when there is a surprise baby in the mix. I love the feelings and emotions that come out while the characters are dealing with the secrets, the hurt and betrayal, and the new found love. I loved reading about Emma, Cam, and Zoey. Cam has absolutely no idea what he is supposed to do with Zoey, but never once does he back down. I loved the dynamics of this group of people. Emma is a great character. She is a strong woman determined to get what she wants out of life. She has never regretted having Zoey and she always puts her first. Cam is a wonderful man. He rolls with the punches and it doesn’t take him long to realize that he wants his family. If you love surprise baby stories, this should be your next one!

This book is sweet, sexy and full of Aww, moments.
Cam Brantley comes from "the wrong side of the tracks" and a less than ideal home situation. He knows all about badparenting from first hand experience.
He worries that more than just Brantley genes could be passed along so having anything to do with kids is way way on the bottom of his to do list.
Then something expected happens and he's given a gift that he never expected.
Emma Walker has plans for her life. She's smart and driven to make a good future for herself.
What she doesn't expect is to have one night of crazy with her high school crush change everything.
Cam and Emma have alot to figure out and it's not going to be a smooth path.
Little Zoey helps but even she makes things a little hectic.
Sometimes though the greatest gifts are the things that surprise us the most.

I haven’t read many books by Cindi Madsen so she is still somewhat an unfamiliar author. I loved Cinderella Screwed Me Over so I jumped at the chance to read something else written by her.

Cam wasn’t the boy next door. He wasn’t the boy you brought home to meet your parents. He was the bad boy that you wanted one hot night with, not one that stuck around, especially since he was a solider. Emma got that one night with him and it changed her life forever. But what happens when Cam comes back into town only to realize that the girl he spent that hot night with is now a mom to a beautiful little girl. A little girl that definitely looks like him. Cam needs to put aside his demons and fears and determine what is important to him. The life he never anticipated on having, the life of a dad.

Bad Boy’s Baby was a sweet and fast read for me. I love stories about soldiers finding love and realizing what kind of future they deserve, regardless of their past. I will definitely be reading the other 2 stories in this series soon.

This has the absolute potential to be a 4.5-5 star read but didn't quite get there for me.

Cam is the ultimate bad boy. He had a reputation growing up and even though he has been away fighting in the armed forces, his reputation has preceeded his return from service.
Emma is the typical smart good girl. But she has kept a secret from Cam and now he is back it is coming out of her closet big time. It is one he didn't see coming and not one he necessarily wanted.

Both Cam and Emma are strong characters and keep you wanting them to work out throughout the entire story but their communication with each other isn't great. Emma struggles to say what she wants to say and Cam is quick to lose his temper and jumps to conclusions.

I think the bones are there to make this into a great story but it Is a little bit slow paced and drawn out for me.
This would make a good holiday read if you were relaxing around the pool and had hours to spend reading.

USA Today Bestselling author Cindi Madsen sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting, revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she'd be even crazier. She has way too many shoes but can always find a reason to buy a new pretty pair, especially if they're sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music, dancing, and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband and three children.
