Review by: Tatia

This was a quick and easy read about a girl who has loved the same boy almost all of her life. When Kacey becomes engaged to another man is when Jake realizes he has to fight for her if he doesn't want to lose her.
Carey Heywood is one of those authors that I know I'll love whatever she writes. The characters are captivating, funny, and are usually strong on all accounts. That was the case in Why Now. Although I did find Kacey to be a little naive when it came to Jake, she was still strong enough to stand on her own. She'd been the talk of the town for as long as she could remember. They all knew of her crush on Jake, yet she held her head high and didn't let it stop her. Jake, for as smart as he is, was also blind when it came to Kacey. Even though he found her attractive, he was held back by the possibility of finding a mystery girl that he kissed many years ago.
While Jake and Kacey were the focus of this book, there were many intriguing secondary characters that I'm anxious to find out more about, such as Jake's sister Reilly and another friend of the group, Heath. They both have a story to tell. While I have an idea of where Heath's story will lead him, Reilly is a total mystery to me. Hopefully we'll see more of them all soon!

4 Stars

New York Times & USA Today bestselling author with 13 books out and many more to come. She was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. Ever the mild-manner citizen, Carey spend her days working in the world of finance, and at night, she retreats into the lives of her fictional characters.
Supporting her all the way are her husband, three sometimes-adorable children, their nine-pound attack Yorkie and their needy Ninja cat.
