I thought I’d left Blackwater, Texas behind for good. I didn’t belong in the small town, but my dad wouldn’t listen. He dragged me back home in his beat-up truck and dropped a bomb along the way: Chase Matthews was moving in with us. He was the golden boy of my high school, my former best friend, and the last person I wanted sleeping across the hall. His presence was too great a reminder of the ghosts I was trying to forget.
I didn’t ask for a hero. I don’t want to be saved.
To me, Lilah Calloway meant late nights sneakin’ out, moonlit hair, and sparklers in July. She was my best friend until the day she left and I’d assumed Blackwater had seen the last of her. Then, like a tempest, she rolled back into town for the final half of senior year. The chopped hair and dark devil-may-care attitude warned most people away, but I knew if I fought hard enough, I could find the lost girl.
I didn’t want to be her hero. Some girls don’t need to be saved.

I have been a fan of Rachel's work now for awhile so getting a copy of this book was so exciting. While pondering over the title, I honestly thought I would be Chasing the Springtime...something I think I was doing while reading as well as chasing Chase, the main character and chasing trust, as well as chasing the truth, and chasing secrets and well the list could go on and on. This book was fascinating from the first few pages because it didn't stop with the story of Lilah and Chase, it brought forth the story of truly who they came to be and where they may be going. It made me curious which is hard to come by in a novel these days. Honest to goodness curiosity.

Lilah and Chase were so the main characters but they weren't at the same time. I loved the dynamic that they shared with all of the characters in this book. Some moments I felt so strongly that they were the mains and then I would flip the page and they were handing the baton on to another set of characters. Rachel did a fabulous job of weaving so many delicate story lines together into one fabulous masterpiece. Each component fitting so perfectly and seamlessly. I didn't feel lost or incomplete, rather very content with all of the story lines. Would I liked to have seen more from Lilah & Chase...yes please! Did it end well for them... Yes it did.

This story was very well done true to Rachel fashion. It was different in a sense that I wasn't going to howl with laughter and just smirk all the way through. I will say that as I read, I felt a sense of completeness and calmness. It was a story that was so right in its storyline that things just fell into place easily. I liked it for its complexity as well as its ease. I liked it for its simple story with so much heart. I completely recommend it and give it 5 stars!

This is my 1st book by RS Grey and I truly loved it. I went in ready for a good read and oh boy did this book deliver! Grey did an amazing job getting me into the characters and their story! I LOVED the main characters but I have to say I LOVE LOVE LOVED Chase!!! He had all the components of the best book boyfriend (not gonna share cuz I don't want to give any spoilers). I love how Grey connected all the characters with stories from the past to the current characters In the story.  I know it can be confusing when you have that but Grey wrote it well and I never got confused and that made the story that much more amazing!  I give this story 5 stars and say it's a must read! Everyone needs a little Chase & Liliah!!
And just so you know I loved the ending & it left me wanting more Chase and Liliah!!!

I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way, I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things... everyday.
I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors include Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things "funny". Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.
