Star quarterback Austin Lawson’s dating life is fair game to the myriad gossip bloggers. To help speed things along, he volunteers at Jessamine Elementary School, never dreaming he’d find the perfect solution to his image problem in Harper Bell. Sweet as anything, she’s star struck by him and agrees to date-after-date, never suspecting the real reason he wants to be with her. But as things begin to heat up between them, Austin realizes that he wants Harper for more than just a quick fix.

Harper Bell is perfectly content as a second grade teacher in the small town of Jessamine—until she meets the one man who makes her question her lack of social life. She never dreamed that sexy, hometown hero Austin Lawson would ever notice a plain-Jane like herself. And with one hot kiss, she begins to fall head over heels for him…until she learns the truth. Austin’s been using her.

Now Austin has to execute the perfect play to win back the girl of his dreams. Or will Harper bench him permanently?

I am a huge fan of this series. It amazes me that the author can keep such a small town constantly hopping. I love the way that she has intertwined the two big families in Jessamine. But I also love the action that their “rivalry” causes.  These two characters will take up residence in your heart, just as all the previous characters did. It was effortless. Harper’s character, while technically a McCoy, doesn’t fit the mold of all the other McCoy women. She is shy and curvy, but also a very spunky woman too. Austin is everything a big football star should be. But he is also very caring, compassionate, and not a complete man-whore. I lovedreading these characters interactions with each other.  I could feel them falling for each other. Love this author and can’t wait to see who is up next in this little town of Jessamine.

The name Harper Bells is just as sweet as spun sugar on a stick. That woman is as adorable and she is spunky. Her classic southern personality is just perfect for her character. Being a Bell hasn't made life easy for her, but her good nature and strong support have helped her keep her head up high. I completely connected to the fact that she's a teacher and a curvy woman!  I teach myself and have curves and it made her character seem so believable and I was able to connect so well.

Austin Lawson is so Southern sweetness rolled into a beefy haulky football god. I liked reading his struggle to keep his football career in tacked while allowing his hometown roots to take shape. Seeing the softer side of main characters is always a plus for me while reading. I like connecting with the human side and feel like the development of a character is amazingly felt when its established well.

This series is a favorite of mine and I truly look forward to new additions! Marquita has a way of keeping this small town of Jessamine so jam packed with zany characters that are soenjoyable to read. From heroes, to librarians, to cotton queens and of course a school teacher and her football god, all are just adorable and sexy. This book delivered a lot of spunk and was an easy read. I completely recommend the series and this book.

If you're looking for a short and sweet summer read then pick up this book. With the small town setting, professional athlete coming home, and a sweet school teacher you've got all you need.

While this book was well written and the storyline kept my interest there wasn't anything that set this book apart from all the others like it.  Harper was sweet and innocent.  Austin was an entitled jerk who needed to learn a lesson.

With crazy families and long running feuds there was a lot of added humor.  This was a sweet book that needed just a little more.
