Ten Things Sloane Hates About Tru by Tera Lynn Childs ~ FMR REVIEW

BLURB

When life gives you a blank canvas, make art.

Sloane Whitaker hates everything about moving to Texas. She hates leaving behind her friends and half her family in New York, starting over senior year at Austin’s NextGen Academy, and having to say she lives in Texas. Most of all, she hates that it’s all her fault. If she wants to earn her way back to the Big Apple, she has to prove she can still be the perfect daughter.

Which means no vandalism art, no trouble at school, and absolutely no Tru Dorsey, her serial screw-up neighbor, who loves nothing more than pushing her buttons.

But from the moment he vaults onto the roof outside her bedroom, there is something about him that makes her want to break every rule. Suddenly it’ s not the ten things she hates about Tru that are at the top of her list. It’s the ten reasons she doesn’t want to be without him.

This book was a good read ...Sloane is girl who's had some issues back home in NY so now she's been uprooted to Austin, Texas with her mom in hopes of her staying out of trouble ...Tru ..the Not-Your-Typical-BoyNext Door ..is having his own issues..at home ..add in a few friends ..some teachers and you have a nice teen drama with a little mystery too!

It was a good solid read ...it kept me entertained ...I liked the growth and relationship between Sloane and Tru...Sloane just wants to go back to NY ...but I think if Tru has his way she may stay and even like it too .lol....it had a great storyline and plot ...there was a bit of a mystery that developed ...that needed solving ..that was fun reading how they figured that out...looking forward to seeing what happens next for these two!

This was a really cute read, definitely fitting well in the Entangled Teen Crush line of books.

Sloan is a strong character, going through something I think all teenagers go through…although maybe they didn’t participate in this particular “incident”.  She’s trying to figure out how to get her mother’s trust back.  She’s working out whether or not the boy next door is a bad boy, or a hero in disguise.  She’s entering a new school, trying to figure out who she should be friends with, and who she should stay away from.  And although she makes a few mistakes along the way, she is a fantastic representative of how to do the right thing, but in your own way.

And Tru?  Well, I guess you’ll have to figure him out for yourself.  Let's just say if I were still a teenager, he is exactly the kind of boy I would be into.  :)

Although it had a really great overall story arch, for me the pacing just wasn’t quite right.  The ending felt a little rushed, and left me with a few questions still…but if that means there’s a possibility of a sequel, I might be convinced it was okay they went unanswered. :)
