Sarah Robinson
Released Sept 29th, 2015

Perfect for fans of Katy Evans and Monica Murphy, Sarah Robinson’s blistering-hot series debut introduces the Kavanagh brothers—mixed martial arts fighters who work hard, play hard, and love with all their hearts.

As one of the big names at his family’s gym, Legends, MMA star Rory Kavanagh is used to being in the spotlight—until a gruesome leg injury knocks him out of the cage. Rory is left feeling sidelined in more ways than one, battling the inner demons that come with losing the one shot at his dreams. Then Clare walks into his life and gives him a new dream: winning her heart. There aren’t many new faces in Woodlawn these days, but this tough, beautiful stranger makes Rory want to get his life back into fighting shape.

Clare Ivers doesn’t think she’ll be able to tell anyone what really brought her to the close-knit Bronx neighborhood where she just started bartending. But her life’s on pause and her past is catching up fast, try as she might to move on—with new friends, steady work, and a chiseled alpha male trying to get her attention. Even though Rory’s more than a little intense, she can’t deny that her heart beats faster when he looks at her with those soulful silver eyes. Clare thought she was done with love, but Rory might just be man enough to show her she thought wrong.

This was wonderful. The author did an amazing job with these characters. She tackled a few hard subjects such as addiction and abuse. Rory is an ex-fighter. After an injury, he has been out of the game. He is battling a few demons. He also has the biggest, most compassionate heart that he hides from people. He has a big, wonderful family. They are all close and very supportive of each other. Clare is running from her past, praying it doesn’t catch up with her. She is determined to learn how to defend herself and not to let anyone hurt her again. When Rory and Clare come together, it is explosive. The chemistry is off the charts. They have a lot of things in common that help bond them together very quickly. I loved this storyline. I thought it was very well written and the author did an incredible job with the description and detail. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Champion MMA fighter Rory Kavanaugh turns to drugs and alcohol after a serious injury ends his career. Running from her past, Clare doesn't want a relationship nor to let anyone in until she meets the Kavanaugh family, especially Rory. Will old demons haunt them forever and break them apart?
Breaking a Legend was a quick easy read. The characters were likable, the story line was a familiar one though the family dynamic made it more unique.
The chemistry between Rory and Clare was a good mix of hot and sweet. The writing was good, however, I found the ending to be anticlimactic and I found that some of the major plot points were not filled in strong enough.
I enjoyed this book.

This story took me a while to finish. It wasn't necessarily the story itself that had me struggling, but that it was written in 3rd person. I tend to put them down after struggling to get through a quarter of the story, but something had me continuing on. I'm glad I did as I ended up really enjoying it.
Rory is a well-known MMA fighter. One of the best. An injury took him out of the ring and made him half the man he used to be. With more than just his injury affecting him.
Clare is all on her own in a new city. Running from a past she knows could catch up with her any day, she decides to enroll in self-defense classes. Not only does she meet a new friend in doing so, but she's also introduced to the Kavanagh clan. They're all a close-knot family that would do anything for each other. It's something that Clare has never truly had and she longs for.
This story had its sweet, funny, sexy, and even kind of scary moments. I enjoyed the witty banter from the Kavanagh family. They dished it out well to each other. The one thing that really got to me was how Rory had put so much effort in to changing his ways and becoming stronger, only to revert back to his old ways. He came off as weak then, not like the strong, indestructible Rory Kavanagh that is portrayed throughout.
This is a story that many will love, I'm sure. With not just one, but many MMA fighters, how can you not!
