Three people. Three motives. Three reasons.
When the game leaves the field in the second book in the USA Today bestselling BY HIS GAME series and mixes with sex, lies, and betrayal, the future isn't the only thing on the line...

Macey Kelly has sworn off men. Unless they’re going to zip in and out of her apartment—and her vagina—quicker than they can give her an orgasm, she’s not interested. Finding out her boyfriend of three years got her cousin pregnant was a total confidence knock. Luckily for Macey, confidence is
something she has in abundance, so all Mitch’s asshole move did was make her pretty cynical toward men.
The last thing Jack Carr needs at the start of the season is for a dark-haired, sexy as sin, gyspyesque beauty to be consuming his thoughts. Football is his life, which leaves no time for girls. Unless they’re the love ‘em and leave ‘em girls. Becoming one of the best running backs the league has ever seen by racking up the yards is his top priority… not bedding Macey Kelly, despite her affinity for blow jobs and total sexual abandon.
Avoiding each other is the perfect solution, but when your best friends are in a serious living together kind of relationship, that isn’t always an option. Sometimes, sex on tap is the easiest option. And the sweetest.
Until Mitch shows up with a bombshell that could shatter Macey’s perfectly carved out life. It’s been a year, but he isn’t giving her up, not now he has a chance at winning her back. And he knows her buttons. Every single one of them.
Unfortunately for him, Jack Carr isn’t a loser. The star running back has his eye on the Vince Lombardi—and on Macey. But seeing her hanging between them both isn’t something he’s down with, not when he discovers why she’s so against anything more-ish, as she puts it.Macey quickly realizes she’s the ball being passed between two desperate yet opposing teams, and that only one of them can score the touchdown. But will the winner be the guy she lived with and loved for three years, or will the winner be the guy who understands her and makes her body come alive?
In this game, someone will be sidelined, and calling the play isn’t always as easy as it seems.

*Taps Mic*

THIS BOOK SHOULD COME WITH A FEMALE HEALTH WARNING! Your ovaries WILL explode, Your panties WILL melt, You WILL salivate like a dog, You WILL feel the extreme need to mount your reading device!
Emma Hart, you've done it AGAIN! Jack Carr....you can call me ANYTIME!
Drops Mic, Attempts Sassy Walk Offstage, But Just Look Like I've Had a Hip Replacement*

Emma Hart, one of my go-to authors, she writes, I read, and she ALWAYS delivers an outstanding, sexy, addictive read.

Sidelined has given me everything I want from a book and then some. The characters are HILARIOUS, the story is CAPTURING and the sexy times are SCORCHING!

Still not sure? Ok, let me tell you this! Hot, arrogant, cocky, alpha, football player, WITH heart and a MAGIC COCK vs. sassy, bitchy, hot to trot, classy and REAL female lead who gives as good as she gets IN and OUT of the sheets!

Macey and Jack have this whirlwind of chemistry, but putting that aside they both have been hurt. Will Macey take the risk and allow her heart to be captured? Or will she settle for less going with what she knows, the comeback of the cheating ex-douchehole?
Jack, is human too! He has these walls built up so high, because of being hurt by who someone he thought was his own forever. Will he give all of himself over to this GORGEOUS girl who practically owns his balls? Or will he keep chasing tail to prevent further heartache?

Emma's writing is FLAWLESS. She delivers a read that is full of angst, HOT SCENES, banter, and relatable situations. At times I wanted to grab hold of both main characters and give them a bloody good shake! But it didn't alter my opinion on this fantastic, beautifully written novel.
I love your face Emma Hart!!!

HOOO LEEE FREAK’N HOTTNESS!!! This book wrapped the alpha almighty and the smart ass sassy pants into one book and it was explosively amazing!! LOVED LOVED LOVED this story so hard. This series is adorably sweet and hot as hell and Sidelined just made it better. This was an easy read for me that just had me plowing through in a matter of hours. It was so catchy and kept my interest the whole way through.

JACK. FREAK’N. CARR… I would jump and maul that man silly if there wasn’t a crazy line of fan girls already waiting for him!!! He is as confident as an alpha man should be and has the drive of a star Running back. Everything you think you know about Jack Carr melts away, along with your panties when he’s around. He is amazingly talented at getting what he wants and once he sets his sights on Macey Kelly GAME ON!!

MACEY KELLY…who I wanted to throw my kindle at several times during this book, was brilliant. She commands the stage the minute she sets foot onto it. She has tenacity and a spark which fuels Jack’s charge for her. She is complex and endearing which brought the angst to an all-time high. Macey also was sweet and broken begging to be fixed. The way her character developed and matured over the course of the book was great to see.

I completely LOVED the fact that all the characters from Blindsided were back and as funny as ever. Emma wrote this whole cast to be supportive and hilarious making the dynamic FABULOUS! “Baby, you tripped me the first time I laid eyes on you, and I’ve been falling ever since”….SWOON!! Proof that under that tough caveman exterior bleeds a true blooded romantic. As much as I wanted to scream at the characters in this book from time to time, I was falling just as hard as Jack did for Macey. This was just an amazing read for me!

I recommend this book 100%!!! Grab the whole series and fall in love with the Viper men. Let Jack and Macey Sideline all the thoughts you think you have about love, loss and football! Fantastic, amazing and sexy read all the way.

Review by: Cristina

Macey Kelly 5 year plan went down the drain when her boyfriend of three years cheated on her and had gotten her cousin pregnant. Her definition of love has tainted any idea of being more with the opposite sex mainly because she is afraid of being screwed at the end again.

Jack Carr is the star running back for the Vipers and because he has been burn in a relationship before he avoids being with anyone more. His life is football and the only connections with women are with one-night stands love them and leave them type of relationship.

We meet Macey and Jack in the first book "Blindside (By His Game #1)" and who are best friends with Leah and Corey, respectively in that book. Avoiding one another would be the easy way out but having best friends in a serious relationship and have engaged in a couple hooks up in the past with one other is simply next to impossible.

It seems like it’s such an alien concept to some people: fucking without loving. Well, as my dad once told me, you don’t need love to have sex, and you don’t need sex to have love. Although, if you got’em both, you got it good.

When Macey and Jack are together the sex is undeniably sizzling and steamy! They have a proposition that they would only sleep with one another and if anything more-ish arises to let each other know. But will only exclusive friends with benefits work for them and be able to hide the actual truth of the matter?

“Baby, I don’t love you and you don’t love me, but love ain’t everythin’. Trust? Desire? Respect? Laughter? Now that’s everything. Love is the cherry on the top of all things."

This 5 stars favorite read in the series had it all and more. From heartache to hot and bother to heartwarming it did not fall short. Just when I thought the games being played were over another surprise comes up causing hesitation and more frustration. To top it off having Jack confused by what a girl is really saying and asking will make anyone heads spin but makes it up when he teaches Macey some things about football. A great book for readers who love a good drama in a story!

Sidelined is the first Emma Hart novel I read. The writing was good. It got me since the first chapter. However, I do have mixed feelings regarding the story. Everything was great except for the characters specifically Macey – our heroine. The plot was engaging and interesting. I was very much invested in our characters and their lives. I love their little group of friends, everyone was likeable.

However, my dislike for the novel stems from Macey and Jack’s relationship.  I could tell that these two characters had something going on. I mean, it was rather obvious. I liked the intensity and the passion. But the main thing that drove the story and relationship is the love triangle. While I may not be the biggest fan of love triangles, I do accept it when I feel like it has been done well. It wasn’t the case for this book. I really disliked and became frustrated because of Macey’s hesitance to make a decision. I could tell who was the right person for her, and I understand that sometimes, some of us can’t see everything but she should be more direct about her feelings if she didn’t like one of them. I feel like she’s become so focused on the past that it has overtaken her ability to think. It just bothers me so much. That does not mean that Jack is perfect. He made mistakes but he was determined and I liked that about him.

Like I said, this was a great book if not for the characters. Therefore, if you’re interested in the plot, please do not let my opinions for Macey change your mind. It had a strong and clear storyline and Emma Hart’s writing was solid from the start.

EXCERPT:
“You’re not goin’ anywhere, baby.” He steps closer, his fingers twitching, his breath ghosting across my neck. “At least, you ain’t fuckin’ moving until you’ve told me why you’re avoiding me.”
“Isn’t it obvious? You and I are cut from the same cloth, Jack. We don’t do the post-sex thing.”
“Yet here we are.”
“It’s unfortunate.”
“That what you call it?” he laughs, low and husky.
“Yep.” I drink.
“Put the drink down, M,” he whispers. “It’s fucking with you.”
“Really? I thought that was you fucking with me,” I respond, turning to him and pressing a hand against his chest. “What the hell are you doing here?”
Like, right here. Literally.
“It’s my best friend’s birthday.” He smirks. “Why’ve you been staring at me all night like you wanna suck and bite my cock simultaneously?”
“I assure you it was the latter.”
“Sure it was.” Jack steps closer to me again, and I grab my glass with the hand closest to him so I don’t grab his ass or something, ‘cause, shit. He has a sweet-as-hell ass.
“It was.” I drink. Again. Where the hell are my girls? “I feel like dancing.” I finish the glass and twist my body away from his.
His hand finally falls from me as I stalk toward and then down the stairs. I slip into the moving crowd, but I’ve barely moved my hips when two large, strong hands clasp me and tug me backward. The wall of muscle my back slams into is solid, and I exhale on a whoosh even as I close my fingers against the ones clasping my hips.
“Nice try, baby,” Jack says into my ear. “Run if you want. I’m a running back. I’ll chase you and catch you every fuckin’ time.”
“Sounds like a promise you can’t keep, doll,” I reply, my breath catching when he moves my hips against his.
“Sounds like a promise you’re afraid of.”

Two people. Two agendas. Two games.
What happens when the out-there It-Boy of football meets the secret It-Girl of fashion?
As the daughter of Hollywood’s sweetheart, Leah Veronica can’t even buy a coffee without finding her face on a magazine stand, so it’s no wonder she’s launching her first fashion line in secret. With it debuting at New York Fashion Week in just under a month, extra time in the spotlight is the last thing she needs.
The son of the best quarterback the league has ever seen, filling legendary shoes as the L.A. Vipers’ quarterback was inevitable for Corey Jackson. So was meeting Leah Veronica—the first girl to hand him his ass without putting a hair out of place.
Getting the handsome, prickly blonde into his bed becomes his number one goal. But getting the sexy, over-confident footballer the hell away from her becomes Leah’s—at least until she realizes the best way to do that is to give him what he wants.
If only it was that simple.
When Corey discovers who she is, and private photos of Hollywood’s finest find their way online, everything they thought they knew is thrown into disarray.
And when secrets are exposed and hearts are shattered, they have to figure out if they’ve been blindsided by love or reality, and if it’s worth running the extra yard to win the game they never meant to play.
