This is a story about a woman named Susanna who is a young widow. She lives alone on her ranch and is very independent.
One night she stumbles upon an accident and meets Royce who was riding his motorcycle and hit a deer.
There was an instant attraction and Royce quickly staked his claim.
Although this book is written in modern times, Royce is very old fashioned and comes from old money. From day one he dominates Susanna and overtakes her whole life.
Royce likes to splash his money around and in the beginning Susanna is uncomfortable with this but she soon becomes accustomed to living the rich lifestyle.
At times Royce comes across as a charming gentleman and other times he is a bit of a caveman. Initially Susanna is very independent but the more clingy and dominant Royce becomes the more she loses her independence. She soon learns to choose her battles with him. He is not physically abusive but he is very clear when he is displeased with her.
When 2 of Royces employees kidnap Susanna he realizes he cannot live without her. They end up getting married very quickly and moving towards their happy ever after.
This book wasn't really my cup of tea, but it was very well written and the storyline flowed and was consistent. If you like characters that lean towards the historical genre (this book is not classified as hitorical as int is written in modern times) as far as mannerisms and attitudes go, you will enjoy this book. This would make a great holiday read.

I attended Jackson Hole Writers Convention in 2011 and it was great! The first thing the speaker said is that most writers are introverts. We could be perfectly happy with a computer and a desk chair. But there are certain times in life when you need to stop writing and start smiling at your peers. Social media is the biggest wink of all.
My husband Mike makes everything easier. Mike, myself, and our three year old puppy are finally settled in. We have paradise right outside our door, and happy vacationers all around us. It’s the perfect place for nature to be powerful, calming, and beautiful at the same time.
