Then everything changes when she's sent to a new family in the neighboring town. New family. New friends. A new world. She's elated. Then he nodded. “Congratulations.”
“On what?”
“You earned their respect.”
I snorted. “I don’t care.”
“I know.” A smile teased at the corners of his lips. “They saw that too and because of that, they fear you now.”

“She’s one of mine. She’s one of us.” He spread his arms out wide and raised his voice even louder. “We persevere. We’re the strong. We take on any circumstances and we still thrive. We’re going to keep thriving. Hell, we’re going to conquer. She’s got that rush in her and she won’t be satisfied with you. None of you. You just wait and see.” He looked down at me, his eyebrows lifted, as if seeing me for the first time. He fell back a step. Sweat was running down his face. He whispered to me, “I’ll wait for you, Taryn. I love you. You’re mine. No one else can take your place.”
Tears were rolling down my face. I ignored them.

**EXCERPT**

“I may be an asshole, but I’m an asshole you can trust.” He smirked as he reached behind him and then placed a cold bottle in my hand. “I promise.” He took my other hand and led me back downstairs.
Maybe it wasn’t a great decision, but I gave in. The fight was always in me to survive and for once, I didn’t want to fight. I wanted to be watched over. If he volunteered for that position, so be it. Brian never watched over me. I watched over him and Jace had rarely been around.
When he sat on the couch, I curled up next to him and enjoyed my place among his group of friends. As the morning and afternoon passed by, I heard and saw the respect they had for Tray. They listened when he spoke. Everyone turned to him and no one ignored him. They genuinely liked him.
People had never genuinely liked Brian or Jace. Jace was feared. He was respected, but I didn’t know if anyone in his life liked him. It was the opposite for Brian. He was tolerated. He was a hothead. No one knew when he would explode and so he earned a reputation as being unpredictable. He was met with caution wherever he went.
It was an alien feeling, watching this different world unfold before me.
I liked it.

5 * FLAWLESS * INTENSE * GRIPPING * ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ * THAT TARYN AND TRAY CONNECTION * THE FREAKING TWIST * TIJAN ROCKS MY WORLD * STARS

Tijan is one of my all time favourite go-to authors. She writes it....I read it! Simple as that. BUT....every time I read a new book she releases, I solemnly swear its my favourite of hers. However, I CAN HONESTLY PUT MY HAND ON MY HEART AND SAY, THIS IS THE BEST BOOK OF HERS THAT I HAVE READ..... EVER. Let me tell you why.....

Taryn, is absolute freaking K.I.C.K.A.S.S! She has such an awesome attitude and isn't influenced by anyone with her decision making. She is my ideal heroine!! LOVE HER!
Tray......OH MY! I think that if you look in a dictionary for the word PERFECTION you will sure as shit find his name under it! I LOVE HIM! At first, I was unsure, I didn't know what his game was, I didn't know if I could trust him and I found myself trying to work him out constantly, but damn....I was not disappointed AT.ALL!!!!! The connection between Taryn and Tray was sooooooo hot, strong and intense, you can feel it through the book constantly!I loved other characters in this book....JACE......YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This book kept me gripped from the beginning right until the very last word. Tijan has such a flawless and unique writing style that just keeps me wanting more, it has the perfect amount of depth,  it is full of angst, with unexpected twists and turns, the intensity of the book was absolutely off the charts. I could not put it down for anything and kind of feel sorry for my man and kids who had to deal with stuff themselves! #notsorryatall

I never give 'BIG' spoilers in my reviews because every single person reads a book differently. However, this is a 5 star read for me, it will be one that stays in my head and one that I will recommend to every reader I know! Taryn is the chick every girl would want to be, she is fearless, independent and has REAL life experience! She hasn't had it easy, but her strength makes her character shine!! It is so refreshing to read a book with a lead female who doesn't cry and whine every second! Tray is an AMAZING lead male character. He has respect for people and he gets their respect in return, he is loyal and also has so much strength and an awesome attitude!

Tijan.....JACE NEEDS A BOOK! I BEG YOU! PLEASE!! DO IT!!!!!! IT WOULD BE AMAZING TO SEE THIS STORY FROM HIS EYES!!!!!!!

Readers...... GO AND PURCHASE THIS BOOK NOW! LIKE RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND.......GO!!!!!!!

I just love Tijan’s writing, and the way she brings her characters, and their hardships, to life.  Taryn is pretty well broken by everything that’s happened to her over the course of her life.  Passed from crappy foster home to crappy foster home, she thinks maybe this adoption is her chance to turn her circumstances around.  But her new family isn’t exactly what she bargained for.
When Taryn left her old life, she also left her boyfriend, and his older brother, who were the only ‘family’ she had.  But if she’s going to move on from her former life, she needs to let them go.  But maybe her old life isn’t ready to let go of her…
When Taryn and Trey Evans start hanging together, she thinks maybe she’s starting to fit in to this new, richer, supposedly happier (and less criminal) crowd.  But the more time she spends with Trey, the more she begins to learn that maybe Trey’s life isn’t really that far from her old life.
I LOVE Trey, and I love Jace, and I even like her new siblings (although not so much some other people in her new life) and until about 2/3 the way through the book, I wasn’t even sure what I wanted for Taryn!  But she’s a badass, who deserves everything good after surviving so much crap.  And in the end, Taryn has to fight for the life she wants to live.  I think my favorite thing about Taryn is her ability to look at a situation from all angles, and figure out what everyone can do to be better people, and make that situation better.  And I think it’s absolutely AMAZING that she has such a capacity to love after everything she’s been through.
If you’ve read Tijan’s previous books, I would call this book Fallen Crest High meets Carter Reed.  It’s full of the teen angst and family-type problems of FCH, but has added the criminal/suspense/thriller vibe of Carter Reed.
JUST GO READ IT!  You won’t be able to stop once you start!

I don't think I have ever given Tijan less than a 5 star REVIEW!!! This Author can write and she rocks at it!

A Whole New Crowd is an awesome read with a strong female lead, Taryn has a kickass attitude that sticks with you after reading this book. Taryn is trying to leave an old life behind to start fresh, she is struggling with leaving her "old family". She really doesn't feel like she fits in with her new family but she is trying. She starts to hang out with the gorgeous, mysterious Tray......Oh pay attention ladies!! I wasn't sure where Tijan was taking the story mid way reading it but like always it really is a kick ass book. Can I say I love JACE and would love to read more about him....Hint Hint!!

Go buy this book it seriously ROCKS!!!

Review By Karin

OMG, Fangirling.  She did it again.  Strong, very strong, independent female lead and a fantastic guy next to her to help her grow.  Who could ask for more?
Taryn is, like I said, a very strong girl who values her independence.  She is courage, blunt, and loyal.  Stubborn should be her middle name.  However, she has flaws that make her very relatable.  Honestly, I could see myself being friends with her.
Unfortunately, life hasn’t been easy, and that is where her life and story get very interesting.  There are twists in the story that aren’t cleared up until the very end.
Be sure to pay very close attention to how she relates to everyone in the story.  Her protective streak is a think to envy and respect.
Tijan weaves a tale that is well written and very twisty.  Pay close attention or you can get lost.
A whole new crowd of characters are awaiting you, and every one has a story to be told.

Review By Cristina

Taryn had a life moving from one foster home to another. She was a thief who wanted a life of normalcy. She felt alone in the world and for a long time she called her ex-boyfriend, Brian and his brother, Jace her family before being adopted.

She falls into a crowd that she is not used to and learns so many things about her new adopted family and new life. Among the community she meets Tray who is a rich, popular guy that have friends who follow him, wants to be in him and/or wants to be in the same circle as him. Although he seems normal on the outside he holds some secrets of his own.

I give the first book I read by Tijan a 3.5 stars. When I first started this book I was getting mixed thoughts. However, once I got into the feel of the story and the setting of it all; it got my mind reeling and wondering the connection to everyone and everything. Without saying much more I recommend this read to experience the life of a foster girl who finally got her wish, right? Well you have to read the book to find out. ;)

3.5 Stars...Cristina
