REVIEW

Wicked Ties is the second book in the Steele Security series. The book can be read as a standalone, however, you might be spoiled on the end of the first book. Hence, do take note that there might be spoilers for the first book, Wicked Games.

With that said, we follow two new main characters in Wicked Ties. Colton "Bull" Lanier and Chaise. Bull was first introduced in the first book. He is a very guarded man. He doesn't let anyone inside of him easily and it takes a lot of effort and time to earn his trust. The book begins from Colton's point of view when he was younger. From there, we get that he was hurt when he was younger and it played a part in determining the kind of man he turned out to be.

On the other hand, Chaise is more of a mystery. In her first scene, she is seen hiding during Noah and Brianna's wedding. She did not notice however, that she was already being monitored by Bull, Rebel and Shadow. Once Brianna and Noah were escorted away for their honeymoon, Chaise was interrogated by Bull. We gathered that Chaise is in danger and Bull has decided to take on her case and protect her while trying to keep their business professional.

I thought the overall pacing of the book was really well done. It was very fast paced and the plot kept me going on. I managed to finish the book in one sitting. It was really good. I was very much invested in the story as well as the characters.

The characters are probably my favourite aspect of the entire book. They are all very likeable and have their own distinct personality that makes them similar yet different from each other. Bull is very hard-headed yet we get to slowly see his inner self shine through as his relationship with Chaise progresses. As for Chaise, like I said, she is very mysterious and keeps things to herself. I think Chaise developed a lot in the story. In the beginning, she was afraid really easily but she grew so much by the end of the book.

I really loved the two main characters and their relationship. It was really interesting to see as the story went on. I also really loved the whole group working together to help Chaise. Their interactions were really fun to read and I enjoyed being a part of them for a bit.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was such an enjoyable read. I did have some minor issues like how it was a little too predictable in certain scenes. There were also a few problems that could have been avoided if they had communicated. In the end, I still liked the story a whole lot and I'm definitely continuing on with the series if there's a sequel. I recommend the book to anyone who likes a good adult romance novel.
