COVER The Resurrection of Aubrey Simmons

Release Date ~ April 22nd
Genre ~ NA Contemporary Romance

☆✮ Synopsis

Death.
For some, it’s simply one of life’s certainties, nothing more. For others, it’s merely a fleeting thought, one often overshadowed by the reckless delusion that they have been blessed with the gift of immortality.
For Aubrey Miller, death is the definition of her very existence. Overcome with the guilt resulting from the loss of her beloved family, she alters her appearance from the once beautiful, blonde-haired, blue-eyed little girl to that of one shrouded in complete darkness, enveloping herself in her own unbreakable fortress of solitude as a form of protection for others.
As she enters her first year of college, her goal is simple: Earn a degree with the least amount of social interaction as possible. What she never anticipates is the formation of very unlikely relationships with two people who will change her life in ways she never believed possible: Quinn Matthews, the boisterous former pageant queen, and Kaeleb McMadden, a childhood friend from her past who never really let her go.
Over the years, as their connections intertwine and grow, a seemingly indestructible bond is formed between the three…
But when death painfully reemerges, Aubrey is lost once again, burying herself deeper than ever before inside the familiar fortification of her fears.
Will the refuge of friendship, the solidarity of life-long bonds, and the power of unconditional love be enough to do the impossible?
Will they be enough to finally bring about…
The Resurrection of Aubrey Miller?

L.B. Simmons really outdoes herself with The Resurrection of Aubrey Miller.  As a fan of the Mending Hearts series I was overjoyed to be getting my hands on this book and frankly it surpassed all of my expectations and then some.  I was awe-struck and downright impressed with this heart-breaking, gut-wrenching, devastatingly agonizing yet incredibly beautiful, exceptionally moving and immensely inspirational story.
Every single one of the characters in this story leaves a long and lasting impression.  Especially the three main characters, Aubrey, Kaeleb, and Quinn, who are all so beautifully damaged and magnificently endearing they promptly carve out a spot and bury themselves firmly within your heart.  The redeeming and life-saving relationship these unlikely companions instantly forge is the epitome of unconditional love, trust, support, loyalty, and comfort.  Each character on their own are solid contenders to top the list of my favorites but when you add Linda, an admirable and empowering life force, and consider all the characters as a whole, I think you would be hard-pressed to find a cast more touching, loveable, and captivating than this one.
L.B. Simmons’ writing is impeccable.  So witty and clever yet impactful and touching, it weaves a rich tapestry of powerful emotion and depth of feeling.  I fell in love with this book right from the onset with its sarcasm and snarky humor, the enticing foreshadowing scattered throughout that heightens your curiosity and keeps your addiction to the story fueled, and the powerful narrative so rife with significant dialogue and passages it would have been easier to just highlight the entire thing from the very beginning.
The insight and enlightening life lessons this story imparts is sure to strike a chord with each reader at least once guaranteeing that you walk away from this book with, at the very least, a new found appreciation of life itself or those things in your life that you hold most dear.  As Aubrey experiences more and more firsts, you are struck by her appreciation for and the significance of even the smallest things.  The simple truths and words of wisdom contained within the pages of this book ring so true and resonate so deep that it provides an enormous opportunity for self-reflection, analysis, and realization of our own gratitude for our circumstances or perhaps reformation of our behaviors and actions in order to either become more fulfilled or to make a greater impact on those around us.
This book isn’t all misery and despair or even all light and inspiration.  It is also a wonderful story of a girl finding herself during her college years, creating indestructible friendships, and finding love with the best friend she thought she had lost.  There is lots of humor, plenty of teasing, and love of every kind everywhere you look.

The Resurrection of Aubrey Miller is the absolute perfect mix of dark and light, excruciating and amusing, depressing and uplifting.  A never-ending rollercoaster of emotion that has you laughing out loud one minute and sobbing the next.

Rating – 5+ Breathtaking Stars
