Breaking Alexandria by K.A. Robinson BLOG STOP & GIVEAWAY

Title: Breaking Alexandria
Author: K.A. Robinson
Release Date: March 30, 2014

Synopsis:

Alexandria’s drug-dealing boyfriend, Joel, isn’t exactly the white knight she’s always dreamed of, but she can’t deny the crazy connection they have. She would do anything for him, including helping him sell drugs in order to fit perfectly into his world.

After catching Alexandria dealing for Joel, instead of turning her into the cops, Alexandria’s mother forces her to move to her grandparents’ farm in West Virginia. Spending the summer in the country, away from Joel, is the last thing Alexandria wants to do. But lucky for her, the sexy farmhand, Landon, who helps out around her grandparents’ place, is a very nice distraction. She tries her best to ignore her attraction to him, especially since she still loves Joel.

When Joel does the unforgivable, Alexandria turns to her new friend, Landon, for comfort, and it ignites an undeniable spark of attraction between them. Soon, she finds herself caught between two very different men, and the struggles within her heart just might end up breaking Alexandria.

I was attracted instantly to Breaking Alexandria by K.A. Robinson.  The blurb was completely intriguing and I have to admit to judging a book by its cover more than a few times.  This cover stopped me dead in my tracks, it was so beautiful and arresting.  The funny thing is, I’m not sure that the blurb necessarily did this book justice.  Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the summary of this book, its accurate and it definitely does its job creating interest, it’s just that there was so much more to this book.  Surprisingly this is not just a book about Alexandria and the two men in her life.  This is a story of reflection, self-discovery, independence, and finding your way.

Breaking Alexandriais so much more emotional than it appears.  There were a few surprising and heartbreaking twists which send Alexandria spiraling into turmoil with an abundance of sorrow, guilt, pain, and regret.  She is then forced to face these feelings along with the doubts she had begun to have about the path she had chosen up to this point in her life.

I loved the role reversal from the typical good girl can’t help but fall for the gorgeous bad boy theme.  Alexandria is a tough girl with a hard exterior.  She is constantly in trouble and pretty out of control.  Sometimes bad girls end up with equally bad boys and sometimes the good guy, Mr. Do-No-Wrong, can’t himself in falling for the gorgeous, tatted and pierced bad GIRL.

Not quite a love triangle, Alexandria definitely has some difficult choices to make and although this may appear pretty cut and dry from the synopsis, K.A. Robinson does an outstanding job of not only detailing the connection between the characters but really making you care about both, yes both, men.  Even in the beginning, as impossible as it seems, you can’t help but feel something for Joel, the drug dealer.  Underneath his unsavory traits you can tell that he truly does care for Lexi and there is always a sneaking suspicion that he really is a great guy that has had a hard road and made some bad decisions.

Lexi’s journey was rough and emotional but it was an important and moving experience.  Breaking Alexandria is emotionally charged, unique, and captivating.  A wonderful story that is highly recommended

Excerpts:

If there were a medal for sneaking out of the house without getting caught the most times, I’d be the recipient for sure. I smiled to myself as I slowly slid open my bedroom window. I glanced down to the yard below. It was illuminated by the streetlight across the road from our house. I squinted as I looked around, checking for movement of any kind.
